W12 Conferences – Expectations are still high and Companies expect Value and Efficiency

With the economy improving, people are still looking for value and efficiency from a conference venue

United Kingdom – 30 March, 2015 – Naturally the global recession affected how companies did business. Companies looked for value for money more than ever as they tried hard to cut costs and make their business more efficient.

Now that the economy is picking up, businesses are still working hard to minimise costs especially when it comes to hosting an event. Return on investment is paramount and the smaller the expenditure, the easier a good return on investment is achieved.

Research by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts found that even as the economy improves, expectations are still high for value and efficiency. The group surveyed 50 event organisers, which reported general managers can be “an integral part of an event” to meet and greet guests at the start. Prompt responses and clarity of information were among the most crucial factors affecting buyers’ satisfaction and fast internet connection is an absolute must.

Gill Jackson, sales director at Macdonald Hotels and Resorts said, “Budgets still remain tight and so the ability to offer clients great value, flexibility, responsiveness and effective enquiry handling will be more important than ever.”

The biggest findings Macdonald Hotels and Resorts found when looking at market trends that will affect the events industry is the need to “continue to work hard” despite the upturn in the recession.

“For agents, added value isn’t really ‘added’ anymore, it is simply expected. Added value offers are set to be increasingly important as clients look to maximise budgets at every step in 2015. Wi-Fi will remain an important trend for added value in 2015… However, personal relationships and service from highly qualified and experienced individuals who understand a client’s business needs inside out remain a top priority for clients.”

“As many sectors are experiencing signs of economic recovery, the demand for conference and events venues is likely to grow in 2015, but the resulting effects of the recession are higher expectations for value and efficiency. Agents and bookers will expect technology and fast broadband to be included in venue rates and to be of high specification. Venues will have to continue to work hard to win business,” read the report.

Tosca Jimenez from W12 Conferences, an events venue offering conference venue hire in London, said “the findings of Macdonald Hotels and Resorts are in line to what we have found at W12 Conferences. Although the economy is picking up and many businesses are experiencing growth, people are still looking for value and efficiency.” She went on to say, “W12 works hard to ensure we provide companies with value for money, a great internet connection and brilliant service.”
